Clinical Assessment and Diagnostic Skills...

...for Nurses, Paramedics and ECP's.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Clinical-Assessment-Diagnostic-Paramedics-ebook/dp/B006GT383A (Paperback version also available)

Bought this for my iPad Kindle App the other day. At a recent IHCD continuation evening, we undertook a medical scenario. It made me realise quite how little knowledge we have about certain areas of assessment, our training tends to focus on treatment, okay, there are some aspects of training focusing on diagnostics, but there simply is not time to cover everything.

Assessment is, however, our most used skill, it tells us a lot about what is happenening to our patient, and helps us decide the best way to treat them.

Having skimmed over the whole thing, and properly read about 1/4 of it, I can say it is perfectly sufficient for my reason for purchasing it. The book covers everything - detailed medical and trauma assessments, explanations of common conditions patient's may suffer from, lists of medications patient's may be taking, and minor injuries and illnesses assessments, as well as a section on clinical skills.

Whilst it says the book is aimed at paramedics, nurses, ecp's etc.. I would be more than happy to reccomend this book to any first aider, particularly those with some enhanced skills, as it really offers some ideas regarding assessing your patient you may not otherwise be taught.

Version 1.1 Chris.

It is a brilliant book, have read through it properly, and often refer to it on duty. Also considering buying one of your other books.

Fancy writing something aimed at event first aiders/voluntary ambulance crew? Think there is definitely a market for a book like that.
